1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback
The Story
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a performance-oriented option package of the Ford Mustang muscle car, originally introduced in August 1968 for the 1969 model year. For the second model year of Ford’s aggressively styled Mach 1 Mustang, in 1970, it delivered all the style and performance of the Mustang-based Shelby GTs with significantly lower pricing.
This 1970 Mach 1 benefits from a five-year comprehensive restoration with only 520 miles since completion. Featuring its original sheet metal, this Mach 1 is powered by the mighty R-code 428 CI Super Cobra Jet V-8 engine with Ram Air induction along with a Ford Toploader 4-speed manual transmission. The 428 Cobra Jet was a masterful combination of already-proven parts and components in the Ford inventory and developed to redeem Ford’s honor in NHRA Super Stock competition. True to purpose, 428 Cobra Jet-powered Mustangs swept the field at the 1968 NHRA Winter Nationals and took Top Eliminator, establishing the Cobra Jet legend.
One of one produced as equipped, this 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback stands as one of the most potent factory supercars ever produced.
